Lake Malawi
The calendar lake — clear freshwater, white sand, and more fish species than any lake on Earth.
About Lake Malawi
Lake Malawi runs the length of Malawi and holds more fish species than any freshwater lake on the planet. The shoreline at Cape Maclear is ringed with white sand, dugout fishing boats, and baobab trees leaning over the water. The Trek overland stops here on night 6, and we run along the lakeshore path at sunrise — flat, breezy, and surrounded by Lake Malawi National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage site). Optional afternoon: snorkel with cichlids straight off the beach.
