Fitness Level

Intermediate~10 weeks of training

The 15/25/35km distances suit regular runners. The 45km and 62km ultras are serious — they climb to 2,228m on mixed terrain. Pick your distance by weekly mileage: 15km for 20km/week runners, 25km for 35km/week, 35km+ for 50km/week, 62km for seasoned ultra runners.

Prerequisites

  • Comfortable with hill running
  • Experience on dirt/trail (45km+ distances)
  • Long-run base of at least 70% of your chosen distance
  • Good hydration practice — tropical heat takes a toll

What you need

  • Valid ID or passport

Non-EAC travellers entering Kenya: apply for the Kenya eTA at etakenya.go.ke at least 48 hours before arrival. The eTA is mandatory for most non-EAC nationalities and costs USD 30 + fees.

Yes. The Trek service layer (race reg, bib delivery, on-ground support, summit lunch, afterparty dinner) applies no matter how you get there. Pick self-drive during booking.

It's a bronze elephant keepsake with the Voi Ultra Marathon branding — only for those who opt in (KSh 1,500). If you're collecting race medals, it's genuinely beautiful. If you're not, skip it.

The Trek Difference

At no extra cost, with every booking

  • Race registration handled by Trek

We register you directly with the event organizer. No wrestling with foreign websites or payment forms.

Your bib will be waiting for you at reception the day before the race. One less thing to worry about.

  • Dedicated Trek contact on-site

A local Trek team member is on the ground throughout your trip. Local SIM, local knowledge, real support.

  • Race-day logistics support

Transport to the start line, cheer zones, recovery meal coordination — we sweat the small stuff so you don't.
