Fitness Level
The 15/25/35km distances suit regular runners. The 45km and 62km ultras are serious — they climb to 2,228m on mixed terrain. Pick your distance by weekly mileage: 15km for 20km/week runners, 25km for 35km/week, 35km+ for 50km/week, 62km for seasoned ultra runners.
Prerequisites
- Comfortable with hill running
- Experience on dirt/trail (45km+ distances)
- Long-run base of at least 70% of your chosen distance
- Good hydration practice — tropical heat takes a toll
Visa & Entry
Domestic Kenyan event. Kenyan residents and visiting EAC citizens don't need anything beyond a valid ID or passport.
What you need
- Valid ID or passport
Non-EAC travellers entering Kenya: apply for the Kenya eTA at etakenya.go.ke at least 48 hours before arrival. The eTA is mandatory for most non-EAC nationalities and costs USD 30 + fees.
